In the past, I used a VBScript from Johan Arwidmark that performed a sleep until a file was present.

By pausing the build at specific times in the task sequence, I can check a number of items from the gather and configure steps to software updates and language packs. One of the troubleshooting steps that I like to perform is a build pause. New-CMPackage -Name $Name -Manufacturer $Manufacturer -Version $Version -Description $Description -Path $Pathįrom time to time, I have a need to troubleshoot my build process. $Name = $($value.name) $Manufacturer = $($value.manufacturer) $Version = $($value.version) $Description =$($scription) $Path = $($value.path) $Packages = Import-CSV -Path E:\temp\Packages.txt Import-Module ‘>\AdminConsole\bin\ConfigurationManager.psd1’ The below link contains more information. Note – The PowerShell profile can be configured to automatically import the module and change to the correct PS drive. After the script successfully ran, I confirmed that the packages were created by examining the SCCM admin console.I typed SCCM Toolkit for the name, Microsoft for the manufacturer, 2012 for the version, Toolkit for SCCM 2012 for the description and E:\packagesource\packages\SCCM 2012 Toolkit\ConfigMgrTools.msi for the path. For example, my first package is the SCCM 2012 toolkit.

After forcing a full discovery, I was able to create user collections that targeted the new AD attributes (example – user collection that contained users only with an Employee ID between EM00001 and EMP10000. Instead, I created a PowerShell script to automate the process. To create the accouts, I added the new AD attributes to my Active Directory User discovery. Setting up these test accounts up using Active Directory Users and Computers would have taken a long time.

These requirements included a new OU for all the test accounts, the same password for all accounts, and different AD attribute values for each account. For my testing, I needed a large pool of AD user accounts to test against, along with several other requirements. The collections would be populated based on Active Directory attributes that are not normally discovered by Active Directory User Discovery, like Employee ID, Department, etc. Recently, I needed to do some testing with custom user collections.
